Tsunagu, Vintage Shibori Scrunchie
Hair scrunchie made from select vintage silk Shibori kimono fabric. Shibori is a traditional Japanese resist tie -dyeing technique.
When laid flat the scrunchies have a diameter of approx. 11cm.
Tsunagu scrunchies are made in Fukuoka, Japan. This is a family project connecting three generations; Grandmother Toshiko Miyazaki (in Japan) with her Daughter Maiko and Granddaughter Mei (in New Zealand). Tsunagu in English literally means to connect/join. Maiko started this project to connect her daughter Mei with her grandmother Toshiko through craft and create an opportunity to share their family culture and sustainable practise from past generations in traditionally crafted textiles.
