Tsunagu, Vintage Kasuri Scrunchie, Indigo 2

Regular price $20.00

Hair scrunchie made from select vintage cotton Kasuri kimono fabrics. Kasuri is a traditional Japanese form of ikat weaving; this means the yarn is dyed prior to weaving and this along with the weaving pattern creates the design on the fabric.

When laid flat the scrunchies have a diameter of approx. 13-14cm. Please note there are 2 different types of beautiful indigo-based Kasuri fabric you will receive a lucky dip, if you have your heart set on one in particular please contact us and we will try our best to accommodate.

Tsunagu scrunchies are made in Fukuoka, Japan. This is a family project connecting three generations; Grandmother Toshiko Miyazaki (in Japan) with her Daughter Maiko and Granddaughter Mei (in New Zealand). Tsunagu in English literally means to connect/join. Maiko started this project to connect her daughter Mei with her grandmother Toshiko through craft and create an opportunity to share their family culture and sustainable practice from past generations in traditionally crafted textiles.
